The DMHC is proud to have made Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging a non-negotiable part of our workplace and have a dedicated team to help us weave this important work into our day-to-day operations.
Our executive leadership has prioritized making the DMHC a reflection of California’s many diverse communities and cultures and has placed the greatest importance on ensuring this is a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Most of our positions are telework based and we proudly provide the flexibility people are looking for to maintain a true work-life balance. Start your workday remotely from anywhere in California! We also offer the option to reserve a “hotel” space at our Downtown Sacramento Headquarters or our office in Rancho Cordova for those who want a hybrid option.

Step 1: Create or Login to your CalCareers Account
You only need to fill out one job application and save it in your account. You can then use that same application to apply for multiple positions.
Sign up on the CalCareers site to create your personalized account.
Your account will help you manage the application process from start to finish.
Step 2: Take an Examination
Before you can apply and work for the State, you need to take and pass an examination/assessment for the job (classification) that you wish to apply. This assessment will evaluate your education, experience, abilities and knowledge. The process can take many forms, including an interview or exam, depending on the classification.
Read the job’s bulletin to see the necessary qualifications. It will also explain what the job is like, provide information on the salary range, and give you an overview of the examination/assessment process.
Step 3: Search and Apply for Jobs
Once you have completed the examination/assessment process for the job classification you wish to be considered, you may search and apply for DMHC vacancies by following the instructions on the Job Announcement posting.
