Governor Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement after the California Department of Managed Health Care announced a $200,000 fine against Blue Cross for inappropriately canceling coverage for enrollees:
"I applaud the strong action Director Cindy Ehnes of my Department of Managed Health Care took today to protect California consumers. This is a clarion call to other health plans that my Administration will not tolerate the violation of state laws intended to protect our HMO patients."
"Californians who make the right decision to have health insurance as security for themselves and their families should not be afraid that if they use it, they will lose it because of confusing applications."
